In search of beaver tracks: walking excursion with a MaasVerkenner
All that water in the Maas Valley River Park brings with it a rich animal life. Take a walk with a MaasVerkenner along the ponds to the Meuse and meet the most special inhabitants of the Koningssteen-Kollegreend nature reserve, the beavers. Being nocturnal, they are active mainly at dusk so you won't see them during the day. With the help of the MaasVerkenner, you will search for beaver tracks, such as fallen trees, branch settlements, bills, gnawing marks, etc. and discover that the beaver is the architect and water manager of this area.
The Koningssteen-Kollegreend cross-border area is jointly managed by Limburgs Landschap and Natuurmonumenten.
In bad weather, it can be muddy. Walking shoes or boots are then recommended. It is also best to adapt your attire to the weather of the day.
